djs are dorks. anyway, some of them are brilliant. like ricardo villalobos, pictured above on the far right along with lumenaries richie hawtin, sven vath (and some other guy...). a great minimal techno producer with chilean music and (gasp!) depeche mode influences. you got to hear it, though... totally original and wonderful. of all the tracks he's on that i've got (100+), these are my six faves.

below is a jay haze remix of "easy lee" jay is a phenomenal dj, and though i don't like many of his produtions, this remix is intricate, complex and totally enjoyable.

james, thanks for posting 'ichso'. my copy of this track got lost in a move, and i missed it so! so much more interesting than 'most any other 'minimal' track i've heard.

oh, and ichso is a complete masterpiece. rupture, who can be a little lukewarm on techno was moved by this one back in '05 when it dropped.

in terms of other minimal music that kicks, i'm holding a lot of it back for my i love techno a-z series... but it's coming...

thanks man. i can't wait to read the posts you mention (dutty artz + minimal techno dump). i feel a little bad about the mudd up! thing because everyone jumped on birdseed pretty hard and i think i was the first to bark kinda aggressively. props to you for trying to mediate. maybe he did mean poser, but i hate that term and the way white folks are often so eager to drop it.
